Did you know that VHS or Video Home Systems where first launched in 1976, however, only became the standard in 1990?

Then in 1996, DVD’s entered the market and actually became more popular that VHS in 2003.  By 2006, most all film companies stopped releasing movies VHS tapes and DVD’s became the standard. Did you know that 8mm tapes were first introduced by Eastman Kodak in 1932 as an economical alternative to 16mm. 8mm was primarily used as a medium for photographing home movies and gained wide acceptance as an entertainment medium until after WWII.

By 1965, Kodak had come up with super 8mm tape that have views an approximately 25% larger image area. However, by 1976 VHS Tapes were launched became the standard by 1990.   Read more
